We use http://www.cesws.co....alibration.aspx to calibrate all our torque wrenches and gauges once a year.

One last note, when I taught automotive courses at the local college, I saw a LOT of misuse ot torque wrenches - I saw people using them as breaker bars, using them to remove wheel nuts and so on. The torque wrench only has one purpose, to accurately tighten fasteners to the required setting.

I also saw a lot of interesting techniques being used by students - one would get to the set torque, then repeatedly continue to click further - six or seven time each wheel nut.

The right way is to pull smoothly and steadily till the click (or the setting on the meter), then STOP. You're done, it's torqued.

Some great advice on here. Had a call from the garage that I left my Torque Wrench with. It’s finally been calibrated so I’m ready to go. Cost me £30 to get it tested.

I have had my torque wrench for 40 odd years, used and abused and never had a problem ... dam it! Now I've said that I will have to caliberate it 'arnt I?
