This is on a 72 model with Dual split (diagonal, re-plumbed to front / rear split with servo)

On the rear sub there is a limiter of some sorts. Are these still availible?

Car has been sitting for about 18 years so I will be upgraging brake line etc.

Maybe easier to ditch the dual master and go for a single master with the servo on the front and an adjustable linliter for the rear.

Thoughts?

I think you'll find one if you Google the number, standard fitting on single line vans & pickups - and Mokes

There is a number of firms who stock them.I find these the best valve they fitted in the factory. Last time I looked, Bull Motif had them. You'll likely find the one you have is in working order, they very rarely give any trouble.

By the look of the way the valve is positioned and it's associated pipework, it looks to me like the car was made as a front / rear split system.

to retain the Tandem System or go to a Single Line st up, may come down to your local registration laws, you may have to retain the Tandem set up for that.

Both systems have their pros and cons.

'76 was the approx date in the UK. It coincides with the change in pedals, to give the extra travel if a circuit fails, so the brake pedal sits higher than the clutch, plus different foot pads.

For this type of Valve, that's the introduction date I also seem to have in mind too.

Also, going off the OPs Avatar Photo, the fuel tank isn't 72 either, though, they are easy enough to swap out.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, the privious own put in a bigger tank. First time registered 72 here in Norway.

As for the front / rear, yes it is. i was mixing up with my brothers 76. There we had to swap pipes when we put discs and servo on or it would only brake diagonally :-)

How hard is it to service this MC? Been sitting for a long time.

How long, is "long" ?

Brake fluid slowly absorbs water, but I have often had no trouble bringing the system back into use after up to 5 years, having purged the old fluid  very thoroughly.

If you haven't got a workshop manual, take lots of photos as you take the Master cylinder apart.

Ok, I will have a really good bleed.

Will be getting new rear cylinders, and will probably have to service the front calipers. Haven't had a look yet.

Might be worth changing the flexi hoses while you're at it too. Popping a flexi isnt a fun experience ?

if you are changing most of the parts when you come to bleed it look for little bits of black in the fluid. if there is it will be from the rubber...
