A fraction of toe in on the rear may help.

Although parallel shouldn’t make the rear end want to do the steering, it might not be wanting to follow the front perfectly.

I have been watching this thread with interest.

Since 1961 I have been involved with Minis in rallying at all levels from local club rallies to full-on internationals and later historic national and international events.

I have driven a lot of Minis on all sorts of surfaces and conditions, including several with LSD's of different types and I have never 'got on' with any of them. For racing, yes, they are ideal and you can really get on the power through corners very early, but on rally surfaces they can be a nightmare.

I recall a conversation with my old friend the late Russell Brookes, who did the RAC Rally in 1971 in a Mini and later did it again in a Mini with an LSD. He said that on the gravel it was very difficult and 'less than friendly' to try to go quickly in.

My son did the Belgian Ypres Historic Intenational in 1997 in a Mk.1 'S'. The driver had an LSD, not sure what type, and when they ran wide on a corner and the RH wheels went onto the grass, full power was applied and the only wheel with grip was the one on the tarmac, so the Mini was pulled straight into a ditch. I had to pull it out with my service car!

Some may find a benefit rallying with an LSD, but I don't know who that might be, except, perhaps, Will Sparrow who did use one sometimes.

Anyway, each to his own and I'm sure that there are a lot better drivers than me who would get a benefit from having an LSD. The problem I found is that when rallying eventually you will arrive at a tightening corner which is a bit sharper than you thought. The natural reaction is to lift off which, with a conventional diff, will promote power-off oversteer. Then, when the car has 'turned-in', you can get back on the power and get it straight. With an LSD, when that happens you need to put the power on immediately and hope that it turns in sufficiently. I nearly went off on a B-road in the wet one night when testing a Cooper 'S' with an LSD as the corner tightened and I lifted off. I just got round, but only just.

The ATB isn’t an LSD though and behaves differently

My quaife atb did exaggerate some poor suspension setup with incorrect scrub radius where I was using turbo drive flanges and 1/2" front wheel spacers.
Weaving and darting all over the place under hard acceleration on uneven or cambered road surfaces.
Changed to mini drive flanges and no spacers and the problem was eradicated.

this is one of the other concerns I've had and its one I really cant solve, I cant fit a smaller offset because of the brakes, and don't want to replace the brakes..

however I'm fairly confident that wont be the fix in this case, miglias run much more offset and they aren't all over the place..

Mini or metro hubs?
I had to swap from metro turbo calipers that had been ground down to KAD 7.9" calipers and turn down the vented discs to 7.9" to do away with th spacers and turbo drive flanges.

Brakes are MiniSport alloy 4 pots on 7.9 discs.

Hubs are standard mini hubs, with 6x10 minilights (I think they are -3 offset)

Standard steering rack with standard steering arms

Is this too expensive ?

With this cost is not too expensive, but I still feel anxious about the quality.
Did you replace and use it? Is the quality really good?
