I know there are different outputs from the 1275 as per Retrominisltd page

1275cc  A+ Spec
50bhp @ 5000rpm    66lb ft @ 2600rpm    1992-2000: Mini Sprite / Mayfair
61bhp @ 5550rpm    61lb ft @ 3000rpm    1990-91: Mini Cooper
63bhp @ 5700rpm    70lb ft @ 3900rpm    1991-1996: Mini Cooper 1.3i / Cabriolet
63bhp @ 5500rpm    70lb ft @ 3000rpm    1997-2000: Mini Cooper 1.3i (MPi)
72bhp @ 6000rpm    73lb ft @ 4000rpm    1982-89: MG Metro
77bhp @ 5800rpm    80lb ft @ 3000rpm    1991-2000: Mini Cooper S 1.3i
78bhp @ 6000rpm    78lb ft @ 3250rpm    1990-91: Mini Cooper S

What are the differences that change the outputs - camshafts?, heads?, carbs?

I'd say combination of all of the above, plus piston compression ratios, as well. I'm not sure if the final drive will also have an effect on output power or not...

And exhausts, and some are injection,

Heads were all the same in those listed there except the mg metro and Cooper S.

Also final drive won't affect the power output

Everything.

All of the components make a little more difference. From major elements like cams, cranks and pistons, to little things like polishing the head and inlet manifold surfaces, needle sizes in the carbs, and even air filters.

The correct sized carb, a stage one kit, and correct exhaust will give better through flow, and a bigger bang. Match this with opening and balancing your ports and enlarged valves, and you can transform the performance of any car.

The trick is to choose what you want to get, and then research how to get there. the rest is time effort and money.

Best of luck. I hope you get what you are after.

Minitman.

And the difference now could be just about nothing in regards output.

Probably nothing more than ticking EU boxes.

Thanks for the replies guys - I know about modifying engines to produce more power. I maybe didn't explain clearly in my original post - what I meant was what differences was there from the factory to produce the various power outputs? In particular for the first 2 in the list between the Sprite/Mayfair and the Cooper.

So if mines got twin hs2 carbs on a metro engine it should be around 70bhp?
