Recently purchased a Jaeger 4cl rvi tach for negative earth off eBay but am unsure as to how to wire it in. It has two white wires coming off the back along with the wire for the bulb and one spade connector.
Any help would be appreciated,
Dan

looks more like the smiths.

terminal to the right of your wires

but give the back a good clean and you may find some marks.

The white wire with the loop on it operates the tach.It connects from the coil feed wire around the loop and back to the coil.It carries the current to the coil and makes the tach work via the loop. You have to remove whatever wire currently is on the coil and fit this in series. It is like the one which was fitted to my MGB.It could easily be positive earth as mine was,it may say on the face.Steve..

Looks very similar but mine isn't smiths. Going to give it a go in series and see if that works but won't be able to for a week or so. I'll update this thread if it works

Cheers I'll give it a go and update this if it works. It does say negative earth on it and my car is negative earth so should be ok
