Last summer I was asked by a young friend to add a rotating brush to his Walnut harvester.  It worked OK on the concrete, but half loaded on an up hill slope, the 1,000cc four cylinder diesel engine runs out of grunt.

Initially I thought I could solve the problem if I could find a more powerful engine until I realised that changing the engine is fraught with difficulty as it incorporates a centrifugal clutch and rotates anti clockwise.

If it were petrol I could probably sort out some pistons and bore it out, but it isn't, and although there is enough space for a supercharger, there is no room for a right angle drive to connect it.

The engine only revs to about 3,000RPM, and I presume that I'd need something smaller than an MG Turbo, so I'd be grateful for all suggestions.

Plenty of options, 1L turbo is nothing new.  Don't use some donkey old turbo like the one fitted to the Metro tho, thats old hat and well past best.

From memory Vauxhall were doing some small Tdi engines for the Corsa, the turbo off one of those would be a good start.

gt15 turbos are plentiful and are tiny. It’s what I am going to use for my 998 mini. Get them off of older pug diesels

Remember Vauxhall have the 1300 CDTI turbo, very reliable turbos by the way

I bought an IHI RF3 for ~£30. Tiny little thing that I’ll be using on a 998. Better value than the Garrett.

Its a diesel, you do not want anything of a petrol!

A gt15 in diesel form (not even petrol as suggested) would be to big, they are commonly found on 2.0L diesel.

Something of a small diesel engine would be good lots of 1.2 vag group diesel engines.
