Hi, just checking before going any further with a timing chain / tensioner replacement on a 95 spi. Flywheel is locked with a locking tool, tdc sorted and cover is off. Haynes suggests preventing the cam sprocket from rotating while the nut is slackened using a 'suitable' forked tool, which I don't have. Is this strictly necessary if the crank is locked and the chain is taking the strain, preventing the cam from rotating? Or is there a risk of damage, or losing cam position? Thanks

If you are going to replace the chain, taking care not to round the corners off, just go ahead and slacken the nut.
