Hi All,

I have a mini 1992 and suddenly i have a knocking sound in the right rear.

i have checked it and found out the nut that attached to radius arms is kind loose but i don't know if this is this the problem.

when i drive the mini, looks the shock is loose.

If nut loose is the problem, how can i re tight it again

using normal shocks

If it's the nuts on either end of the long pin try tightening the two nuts(one on either end of the pin) just hold one with a socket and ratchet, use a breaker bar and socket on the other end. Do both arms, takes minutes once the car is in the air.

Grease the nipples whilst your there.

also check that the shocker nuts are tight top and bottom(if petrol tank side you'll need to move this)

Hope this helps!

Cal

When you say "right rear", are you standing in front of the car, or sitting in it ?

It could well be the donuts need replacing.

See if they are lose or firm.

Good luck

The noise would most likely be the shock absorber top. Don't just tighten the nut inspect the rubber bushes above & below the arch as well as the arch itself where the shocker fits.

To check the rubber donuts jack the wheel off the floor and see if the trumpet can be moved or rotated because it's no longer pressed in to the radius arm by the spring.

I think you have been given all the info you need by Ethel.

Take it apart and inspect all of the perishable items.
