More done

Full scuttle panel / windscreen surround

HtfRaeK.jpg

6iFccFj.jpg

gone for the full height panel due to rust high up the a pillars, caused by the foam stuffed into the roof corners at the factory and wrapped around the aerial lead, which has become damp over time and rotted the panel from the inside out

OnbzJ70.jpg

fZ4e21B.jpg?1

Top dash rail fitted at the same time so all 3 sections (scuttle, bulkhead and dash rail) could be spot welded together

Then Finally the shell was removed from the jig to carry on

Passenger side rear arch / 1/4 panel next

Then rear quarter

one side down, one to go!

same again...

couple of brackets to transfer over...

and quarter panel fitted

zPgaMzm.jpg

Lower dash rail next and I started by spot welding the rail and shelf together off the car

b9my2v1.jpg

I then turned to replacing the inner a post panels, for some reason the mountings for the lower dash rail had not been fitted to the passenger side so I had to make some following the drivers side for shape (remembering to reverse the shape of course to fit passenger side!)

AuwbeYs.jpg

xrJ4w80.jpg

1NUE1s8.jpg

and then finally fitting the dash rail

XGXWfB9.jpg

Slight break from the shell next and on to the doors, at first glance they dont look too bad, indeed the outer skin is rust free but looking closer they have been repaired in the past using magnum skins, the frames have also rusted in other places not covered in the past repair so skins and frame repairs it is...

Looking good, that is a serious amount of work but it is starting to take shape.

A more faint-hearted person would have walked away from that car - well done for taking it on! What plans for the engine?

A pleasure to see perfectionism, May I ask which spot welder do you have? and did your floor come with the studs?

Thank you, my spot welder is a Tecna 3484

My floor didn't come fitted with studs, I've had to add them myself, I have not been able to find the coarse thread studs used at the factory but have found that a standard M5 is close enough, I have trial fitted the fuel lines and they bolt up and grip nice and tight on the m5's so I'm happy with that

Hello.

Did you removed the E-coat from the floor panels or what I see is the primer ?

Hello.

Most of the E - coat removed, probably 80% bare metal, between what was removed for welding and then flatting out any remaining dodgy looking areas it doesnt leave a lot!

Quick update

After prepping the underside in my previous post it was wheeled straight into the booth and given a good coat of epoxy primer

FqHRZFl.jpg

Next Day I sealed up all seams using a pu sealant

YfeVjgc.jpg

UbKshiQ.jpg

And when that was cured I went over the top of the same seams with a rubberised spray sealant for extra protection and that factory look

And then finally 2 coats of Novol Cobra 2k truck bed liner (similar to upol raptor but slightly cheaper, just as good and more importantly a lot easier to tint)

Lovely work, would love to have the ability to repair a shell to that standard although as you say a brand new heritage shell would probably have been the best bet!

Keep the updates coming, loving this project.
