I've just replace both the upper and lower ball joints on the mini. Got them set up so there is resistance but can still move them by hand, with the lower one I done this prior to fitting the spring.

When I have just fit the hub back on the car it is ridiculously stiff, I struggled to move it to be able to fit the track rod end. Surely this cannot be right or is it to do with the car being jacked up off the ground and the pressure off the lower spring making the lower ball joint tighter?

Thanks

I will pop back in the garage and check. I was having a look earlier and torqued everything up and got the discs, caliper and wheel back on and I was able to move it and no play from the ball joints.

I may have to confess that this was just being a bit naive and over cautious? I might also need to get a gym membership!
