[PACINO]

Has anyone idea what kind of Piston is this? with these letters engraved; "id4"

That is not much information, it would help if you could tell us what is the diameter of the piston, and the distance from the top of the piston to the center line of the gudgeon pin ?.

Hello guys, and thank you for the help. The piston puts engraving: +020 and has 2 holes on each side of the bolt, in total 4.

Maybe is a Hepolite

Maybe. And maybe it is one of the very poor ones with a big slot either side in the oil control ring that makes then only fit fir a standard engine.

It looks like a Hepolite for a 1098 engine, now at 0.020" oversize.

Hello Nicklouse. Sorry, but I don't know what you mean with "maybe it is one of the very poor ones". Are you talking about the quality?

- Piston diameter 71,10mm
- Distance between head and base 70.2mm
- Distance head to gudgeon pin 37.15mm

As most people will know in the meantime Federal Mogul has concentrated piston manufacturing with Nüral (Nürnberger Aluminiumwerke). Some of the old Hepolite designs are still available now with Nüral numbering.

Edit: Yes, sorry, not deck height but compression height is correct.

 

@Pacino: perhaps you can find a number somewhere, maybe in the inner part of the piston.

Nick is correct in this not being performance-oriented. In my list the only performance pistons are the 73.5 as they are the old STR310 Powermax ones.

71.1mm  bore   is a plus twenty thou Cooper S piston, and 38.12mm ( only about 1mm out from your measurement ) from the top of the piston to the center line of the gudgeon pin would be a 1071 cc piston
