Hey everyone,

I've (finally) got near the end of a very long mk1 restoration. I'm looking at fitting up a few parts now to make sure I've got holes in the right places before it gets painted. My aim is to avoid self tappers as they always seem to cause rust; I'll be using rivnuts or bolts instead.

So its a mk1, and is of course being fitted with a mk1 grille. It's been years since I took the rusty old grille off, and its my first mk1, so I can't remember how they fit!

Does the moustache trim fit to the car first, then the grille? I want to use grille buttons to let me get the grille off quickly. On my old mk3, I riveted the grille trim to the grille, then used the buttons to attach it to the car. With the mk1, should the moustache stay on the car when removing the grille using buttons, or should I rivet the two together?

Thanks,

Chris
