Hi all
Thanks for having me on here. Just bought a red 2000 Cooper Sportspack. I followed the general advice of going for the most solid car you can find and not worrying about the mechanicals too much. The car looks rust-free (famous last words) but has done 100k miles so a rebuild is on the cards I guess.
Ll be using it as a second car, 3-4000 miles a year, road use mainly. I'm swapping from a fast car so I will be upgrading it. My current plan is to get SC to put their throttle body and ECU kit on it with their head, run it like that for a year, then have it rebuilt and at the same time get SC to fit their supercharger kit. I'll get the suspension upgraded this year too.
Make sense to you experienced guys out there? I'm not going to be doing anything more than very basic maintenance myself due to a lack of both skills and space, living in central London!
Any suggestions welcomed.
Chris

With 100K on the clock I personally would do nothing to it yet... drive it around for a month or so see what "falls off".. chances are with 100K on it a lot of work will have already been done, but I wouldn't rush into a new head etc as it might just push the poor baby over the edge....even back in the day I would buy a Mini for £60  (yes that's correct 60) and drive it around for weeks to see what gremlins showed up before I threw any money at it...
