So lying awake last night and got thinking about the film, the original not that horrific remake, and I got thinking how I would feel if a film company wanted to update the original film.

My first thought was leave well alone it's a great film and even the things wrong with it are part of it's charms, rather like the mini itself!

But then I thought  of a few little tweaks that might help:

Miura over a cliff: sure you all know that the Miura pushed over the cliff has no engine

Mini over a cliff: When the red mini is pushed out of the back of the bus the boot lid pops open and you can see that the inside of the car is white!

Coventry Tunnel: The Mini's have an extra pair of spot lights... They could also add the infamous 360 that they tried to do in the original!

So what do you guys think? Leave well alone or what to CGI?

Best not to mess with it I reckon.  It's from the late sixties, a unique time in our history which made the film come together the way we love, if you CGI it then it's not a late sixties film anymore.  It's not perfect but I'm happy with that.

When George Lucas re-edited it and fixed things with modern CGI, the fans hated it, thats my point.

Anyway the director of the original has passed away and films should be looked upon as art and not messed around with by anyone other than the director.

It was more of a Hollywood reimagining, same title, completely different film, set in a different city. None of the charm, humour or style of the original. A bit like the BMW Mini, it says Mini on the outside, but it's a modern version of the classic, devoid of any attributes of the original.
