I was thinking of fitting some speakers in the doors in my 1998 cooper. I am wanting to keep the factory look. I’ve seen after market door pockets with the speaker grille built in, but am I also right in saying that metro door pockets will also fit ?

Yes , same height as standard , they are shorter ( not full length of door) and look great . You would just need some ss self tappers

I have original door pocket fitted already so I guess they will not cover all the screw holes

Bit cheaper, and slightly better design

If you can get hold of some MK1 Metro door pockets these have fittings for speakers built in.

They look identical to the standard mini door pockets, apart from the speaker bit, and fit in the same screw holes. There is an extra screw needed but there's a square hole present in the door, at least there is one on my 94 mini, but you'll need one of these to screw into:

Problem is they rarely come up on Ebay just keep looking,

I hated my door pockets. I found that I just kept kicking them and they hardly held anything anyway.

I have door pockets from a mk 1 mg metro in mine.   They’re the identical size and shape of mini ones.  Even the screw holes match up.  Pleased with the results.
