I've a 1275cc A+ engine. The oil pump is a 4 bolt fixing type but all the pumps online are 2 bolt. I haven't removed it yet but presume it's a slot drive?
Fitting a new 2 bolt will be ok??
I guess it's good pratice to replace oil pump whilst engine is apart.

Are you sure it's four bolt? Usually two bolts mount the pump to the block and the other two bolts hold the top plate to the pump body.

The earlier engines did have a 4 bolt pump fitted, when Slot or Spider Drive Pumps were used, though that one appears after market.

The Steel Backed 2 Bolt types Pumps are OK and are a direct replacement.

Yours is likely a Spider Drive, but I'd suggest removing it to see what it is for sure.

a Kent cam 276 was fitted about 20 years ago . So would that tell me anything without looking? The pump is about 20 years old but the engine has only covered around 20,000 miles so could I possibly leave it? Guess it seems daft to

nope it tells you nothing.

check its condition but most would say change it.
