HI;
Reconditioning a Metro A+ 1275 Engine and building a spare front Subframe to drop the engine in.
After cleaning and de-rusting lots of the SH parts that I am re-using I need some advice on painting and electroplating.
Painting will be Etch Primed and then Engine Enamel
Electroplating is a choice of Bright Zinc, Zinc with Yellow or Black Chromate or Nickel, not sure which plating would be the most suitable and for what parts.
So far here are the parts in a list with my thoughts on whether to paint or electroplate - please feel free to advise:
Drive Shafts - Nickel Plated
Swivel Hubs - Etch Primed and Painted
Engine Oil Pipes - Nickel Plated
Engine Fuel Overflow Pipe - Nickel Plated
Most nuts an bolts - Bright Zinc
Swivel Hub End CV Joint - Etch Primed and Plated
Top Arms - Etch Primed and Painted
Tie Bars - Zinc Yellow Chromate or Nickel Plated
Adjustable Lower Arms - Body Etch Primed and Painted, adjustable insert Zinc - Black
Steering Arms - Not sure - either Etch Primed and Painted to match Hubs or Nickel
Subframe Lower Pins - Nickel
Subframe Tower Bolts - Bright ZInc
Here are some pics of the items that I have cleaned up - still got to Citric Acid soak them for a couple of days:
