Hi

Good to be back in a mini after a 20 year gap. Just bought an 89 Mini 30 which is scruffy but useable. Looking forward to getting stuck in.

Cheers

Mike

Hi Mike. Great Mini. We have also joined today from Essex. What was the previous Mini you owned 20 years ago?

Hi - yep. Total impulse and bought blind ( yes I know - breaking every single rule possible about buying a classic).

Did you see the car? Pics are very flattering. Clearly had a fairly awful respray at some point and a bit of bubbling here and there under the paintwork. Fortunately (or not) I have a small workshop with a few other classics tucked away and can weld so hopefully and major metalwork needed I’m able to do myself.

Firstly need to deal with an alternator light that gets brighter under load - assume the belts either slipping or the alternators shagged.... with 3 jaguars, an mx5 and a mk5 cortina round my neck, there’s always something to do!

Had 2. A 1980 1.0 - POY930W. Sadly nicked and set fire to back in the late 90s. 2nd one is still around as far as I know - JMT720P - bought from a scrap yard I was repossessing back in 2001 for £25! Ran around for a year in it, slung it in a garage in Loughton and then forgot about itfor 10 years. Sold it for £300 as I’d lost the space and regretted it from the moment I did!

Really would like to reply and I’ve tried 2 or 3 times this week but until a mod can remove this restriction, I’m just talking to myself!

Hi, the problem at the moment is due to the way the forum is set up to combat Spam posts, you need to post in a technical section. Once that has been approved you will be good to go.
