I drove for years with Falken 165/70/10 but recently changed to Yokohama A008 - so much more grip in the wet.

I bought mine with Falkens on it, they were borderline scary in the wet. Changed them for Yokohama A539s which are great wet and dry. Changed wheels from 12" to 10", it's on A008s now.

have 10s which had falken f70es I think (the cheap ones 165x70 r10) and swapped out for Yoko a032rs. haven't tried them yet but the falkens were a disaster in the wet/driving alone and pushing corners at speed

Well, my first mini had Falken fk07e's 165/70 r10 on 5x10 BWA's and was loads of fun sliding round corners full throttle, but as soon as there was even the slightest of damp they where a nightmare. Tried on snow once, by accident... Left the car on the side and walked home, only 2mm on flat ground... ? They also wear out quickly but never go hard as I still have a set and are soft as new.
Will never buy another set. Yokohama all the way now, A008 are lovely and really good in the wett and snow (don't recommend snow tho... ?) but my brother also has 032r's and says they are brilliant and good in the rain too, as long as it's not too cold...
Also have a539's on 13's, brilliant tyres.

I'm running Falkens on 12" Rover Mini lites and have found no issues, pretty darn wet at the moment too. I've used Falkens on my usual modern cars too and they do just fine there too.

I've never had Yoko's though so maybe they're super-amazing but Falkens seem just fine to me.

Yokohama a008's are fantastic and have so much grip, but they don't last very long!

Yokohama A539 all day long and the improvement over the Falken  ZE914 is massive.

On the MS website the Falkens are E rated for wet grip and the Yokos are C but its all about the dry grip for those who only go out in the rain by accident and the yoko`s have it in abundance.

I have driven minis with Yoko A539 tyres and the wear rate is shocking. The fallen ziex 914 lasts so much longer and I could drive just as hard with the falken as with the yokos.

I've used Yokohama A539s for 5 years now.  the grip in the dry is very, very good.  In wet conditions they're good too but in what F1 would call 'intermediate conditions' they can surprise you by letting go on the odd occasion.

I don't find the wear rate too bad.

P+P from Minispares is a most excellent price too :-)

I went Nankang 12" on my cabriolet. If I was going to be driving more enthusiastically I would have paid the extra £20 per corner and gone for the Yoko's......gets what you pay for as they say.

So far Yokohama seems to be the preferred choice.

However, there's comments on it's thread wear.

Can those users elaborate whether the high wear was on daily drivers?
