Hi I accidentally caught the live battery cable under the car and it was bear copper arced on the body.
And have now replaced the cable.
I’ve checked I’ve got live going to the Solenoid and I get good voltage. I get a ignition light turn the key nothing happens.
I’ll go back to do it again and I have no ignition light.
So check power to the solenoid again and I get no reading.
Really confused by this one..
Can anybody help please

Check the voltage across the battery and then at the solenoid

I’ve sorted it now thanks.
Swapped out the alternator and it fired up.

Makes sense, if it shorted while it was running there'd have been no resistance across the alternator as the battery would usually provide.
