Has anyone else had trouble installing a new RH tank from Mini Spares?  My old one, an original, fit fine but had developed a slight leak so out it went.  The new one appears to be a fine replica but I can't get it past the bracket that holds the boot cable.  I think that the tank seam might be a little 'taller' than the original tank.  Right now, it looks like I have two options;  trim the bracket or trim the seam on the tank but I don't know how 'deep' to trim the tank seam without causing a leak.  About .3" is all the room I need.  Any input would be appreciated.

Same problem here. I trimmed the bracket off as I only ever use one boot cable anyway.

I'm in the process of trimming the tank seam to within about an 1/8" of the crimp on the perimeter of the tank.  Shouldn't leak.  If it does, I'll have lost a good bit of money, reinstall the old one, plug the interconnecting fuel line between the two and run a single 7.5 gallon tank.  I had a feeling this would turn into a science project.......

Can you not just bend it slightly to get the clearance you need?

The OEM left tank in mine has a significant bend in the seam, presumably to get past that, so bending seems to be the way to go.

No, the tank seam, as fitted, overlaps the cable bracket by about .3".  Going primitive with a belt sander tonight. :gimme:

Trimmed the seam all around to within 1/8" of crimp, close, but still couldn't get past the cable bracket.  ZIP, now it fits!
