I have a programable ignition box and a limiter at around 6000rpm and it's very easy to hit as it revs very smoothly!

I don't intendo to hijack but can you go into detail with this ignition box? the rev limiter aspect really interests me

Mine was made by Accuspark but it’s been discontinued. You lock up the mechanical advance and the unit is wired between the distributor and coil. The RPM is read from the distributor and then the advance is applied back to the coil by the black box unit. Here’s a screenshot of a previous timing curve I had - with 10 degrees of base timing (so add this to all the advance numbers)

My friend had good experiences with this unit by CB performance. It’s a more modern version of mine and has a MAP sensor for vac advance and you can tune live and it also has a 2 step limiter (which is a great way to rip some skids!)

If you’re only interested in the rev limiter part you can get cheaper modules which just do that

One can only imagine the flames and pops with the 2 step rev limiter.
I'm very much interested in a module that includes a 2 step or at the very least a rev limiter.
I'll keep my eyes open for any distributors that allow adjustable advance or ignition boxes!

Thanks.

Something like this has the rev limiter and the 2 step limiter with a button. There’s heaps of choice out there

Hi, I’m currently (slowly) rebuilding a mini, shell is stripped and been blasted and being welded, but the spray is going to be on hold for a long while. So I’ve started stripping a 1098, some tuning is planned, a 295 head, cam, +60 thou bore, pistons plus other bits,( if any of this seems wrong please say I am a novice and going on what I’ve read and heard)
The question is which carb would be best or neither, I was given an su 1 1-2” carb with the car but needs to be refurbished, but I was also given twin 1 1/4” Webber’s and a polished manifold with heat shields that were refurbished a number of years ago and never fitted. Would either of these be able to fit, would I need a different head? Or is there a better option?

Any advice will be much appreciated

I'd suggest working out what your target HP should be and then appropriately sizing the carbs to suit. If it lands 'line-ball' between 2 sizes, for the street, I'd suggest going to the smaller of them, it will make it more driveable.
