Obviously light beginner maintenance but only as far as for example checking oil haha.
I’m looking to get into cars as a hobby, project car etc, and was wondering if a mini would be a good start? What quality mini should I buy as a complete beginner and should I attempt a mini rebuild? I have a Haynes manual too haha, just wondering if I’m way over my head that is all, cheers. ?

Join your local Mini club and talk to them. They like talking about Minis and will set you on your way.

That's great advice from Greenwheels.
Like anything that has demand Minis attract people that are more interest in taking money than anything else, experience helps to spot when things aren't right. All Minis are knocking on and will need TLC to keep 'em on the road that equates to added costs some of which can be avoided if you have a support network for cadging tools etc.
Bottom line is you can easily pay less for other cars that will need less time & expense on maintenance to give you more & cheaper motoring.
