Good day all,

New member and soon to be mini owner. I'm from the small island of Bahrain so my mini choices are very limited. currently interested in 2 mini's that the owners claim are 1975 mini's. will get more details today when i view the cars.

with this forum's expertise, would want to confirm if these mini's are actually mk3 mini's or they seem to me to look like mk6-7 mini's

Would be great to get your comments and support on this. and if you can spare more details on what models you think they are.

highly unlikely that they are mk3

both cars have so many late 90s/early 00s sportpack parts on them, hard to believe that this is coincidence.

Don't look to be any 1973 parts in either of those cars I'm afraid.

Welcome to the miniforum ! Good to see there's still a few mini's out there

When I was there in the 70's there were quite a few minis and mokes on (and off) the road, but without a decent supply of spare parts most were only kept running by cannibalising parts off other cars, so I'd be really surprised if there are still any older models surviving out there

Probably the most fundamental change to Minis happened in 1976 when the front subframe was altered to attach with rubber mountings. If you look under the bonnet post '76 cars have a huge bolt through the cross member, on each side, going in to the centre of the subframe turrets.

Before then (Mk3) there were a pair of half inch headed bolts on each side. In the middle of each pair is a hole that would have taken the hydrolastic hoses, where fitted.

It could have something to do with car import regulations, depending on how they got in to the country - it's not uncommon to USA Minis with fake ID to get round their import rules.

Here's an update gents,

I got car B! had to rush it as there were other buyers bidding for it too.

Did my research afterwards and found the chassis number to SAXXNYADBBD.....  which if I'm not mistaken makes the car a 1990's era car.

still trying to fully identify the car though in turns of model and name.
