Rusty Water-Heated Inlet Manifold

Best Answer panky , 09 March 2020 - 03:11 PM

I had the same thing on my '91 Cooper. It's been by-passed for the last ten years without a problem.

You can just see the length of copper pipe I used as a by-pass. It could do with being a bigger diameter but it's been fine all these years.

Hi (1275 carb Cooper 1990)

One of the ports of my inlet manifold is rusty (and will probably leak). It seems like I have 2 options:

1. Buy http://www.minispare...|Back to search which has 1/2' outlets (mine has 5/8' outlets) and adapt current hoses to fit.

or

2. Bypass the heated inlet manifold completely. Does anyone have any experience of doing this? Or any threads which show what was done? I'd be interested to see the techniques.

Thanks

Alasdair

I compressed an olive on either end then cut the backing nut off, stops the hose popping off the end.

Ok thanks. And did you plug the inlet manifold ports, or just leave them open?
