Thanks, I’m still awaiting a reply from ngk.

I’m confused as to why the 7226 box has the registered trademark logo but the 7811 box doesn’t.

I found another test online last night that involves scraping with a blade over the printing on the ceramic part. Tried it on a selection of the old plugs I have and nothing happens, tried it on the new ones with the same results. So despite the inconstant stamping, it may well be that the plugs I’ve bought are in fact genuine. Although if there’s that many variables of packing and inconsistences of quality of new genuine ones, unless really obvious it harder to tell the difference between genuine and possible very good fakes.

I’m not sure if https://www.sparkplugs.co.uk/ are considered a reputable seller, but I took a chance and ordered a set of plugs from them. They arrived today and are identical to the ones I already had.

I've used Spark Plugs UK for more than fifteen years and always found them competitively priced and very reliable.

Well I’ve had a reply back from ngk from the pics I sent them. Without sending them the plugs themselves (bit awkward at the moment) they can confirm that there’s is nothing obvious to say that they are counterfeit. Still you can never be too careful nowadays.

Excellent news. If nothing else, this thread has raised awareness of fake NGK plugs.

Indeed it has, I'd never considered such a thing. Jeez, you have to be so careful these days!
