Hi All,

I have asked before, and I was going to buy this stuff below, but Retro Minis don't seem to be open at the moment, which is understandable,

Does anyone know of best alternative to this paint, for 1990 Rover Cooper, other than Halfords bright red, which to my eye looks too bright!

Thanks!

I used Smooth Hammerite  (Smoothrite?) on mine - looks ok but might be too bright for you - sorry I don't have a picture

Thanks both, I think I’ll try the ebay stuff!

@Gcal was 1x 250ml tin enough for 1 mini engine block and head?

Pretty sure that's what I used. It did dull down after a while. You can see a tin on the shelf in the background (I got green as well)

Although this was nearer the actual colour as it went on (different lighting)

250 ml will be more than sufficient.

When I did mine (in BMC green) the whole engine including head, rocker cover, gearbox and most ancillaires got 2 coats and there's still some left over.

Do need to prime the parts before painting? If so what primer should I use?
