Hi All,

Currently finishing off the front subframe, all suspension and brakes are now done, just need to finish the driveshaft. I bought new boots, circlips etc for the outer and inner CV joints, should be a simple job to replace.

But my paranoia got the best of me, and I was thinking whilst it is all off the car, should I look to replace the cv joints themselves as well? Photos attached here of the outer joints https://imgur.com/a/PzcqvS5.

The inner joints will need replacing as the balls falls out easily, but unsure with the outer as its a fixed unit.

Secondly, would you advise fitting the inner cv joint now or fit it when the engine is dropped into place?

Thanks

It's a cost vs. faff later down the line question.

What state were the rubber boots you took off from the old Outer CV's? If there was even the slightest sign of them being torn, split or coming away I'd be replacing them as you don't know what has gotten into the joint.

Very good point, one boot was split completely. I should probably replace both.

Thanks
