Hi everyone,

My 1995 Sprite is out of action with need for a new gearbox and has been for a while, hope to get it sorted this summer! Its been in a garage for months already. Currently the situation is:

-Battery Neg disconnected

-Not much fuel in (never added anything to it)

-Oil and filter done before it went away

-No cover on

-Not idling the car

Im sure there are things I should have done before putting it away but is there anything I should be doing in particular or can do now to keep everything as good as possible. I will put in Dehumidifier bags in asap.

Thanks!

Remove the plugs and give the bores a squirt of WD40.

Plug the plug holes with cloth.

Rotate the engine 90 degrees, using the fan / fan belt each week.

connect the battery to  a battery conditioner / charger.

Put bags of Mice poison in the car.

Keep the battery charged if you don' want to buy another. You could also put put it on stands to lift the tyres off the floor or a least give it the occasional shove to rotate the wheels. That'd be easier if you avoid using the handbrake.

Does the cooling system have fresh coolant and is it the correct mix, as in not just straight water?

Is not fresh really and has been topped up with water over time. Drain it?

Yes.

Then flush it well and refill with a strong glycol solution.
