I took an opportunity to thrash a KAD suspended Mini along some B roads.

It sat solidly on the road, with little roll in the corners, but it was like driving a corpse.

OK, with those spacers your probably at around 0 to +5 offset, as above I'd pull the spacers out straight off the bat,

This is the fastest Rally mini anywhere running on 13 inch wheels, wldetrack. Avo coil overs with remote reservoirs special build. Bumpsteer kit.,fully adjustable Kad bottom arms and tie rods. If the video works watch it ride the bummps. Mind you not cheap. Oh and over 200 Bhp
HE Prepares it himself knows everything one needs to know

Those front spacers don't help either, not good for stability and wheel bearing life with 13 inch wheels

This is the fastest and best handling mini around  200 bhp Kad going through wide track arms, bump steer kit , Avo coil over remote resevoir shocks  all round(special build) ,power steering Kad large brakes  This is what we all try to aspire to but does come at a cost,  This is the old spec it has been heavily modified since .Lots of other mods learnt through years of rally experience.

@ Solar the videos of that car were a big reason why I decided to build a Rally Mini. Interesting to hear some specs of it. 200bhp?!? with an a-series engine? I would be very happy to see some fotos of that car is there any chance?

Based on the information I got from you guys I did a lot of work on the car in the last time. I did not had as much time as I would have liked because I have to renovate my house at the moment too so it took a lot longer than planned to bring the Mini back on the road again but now its done. There are no rallys in Austria this year anyhow so its not that bad.

I welded some brackets to move the upper mounting point of the shocks to the inside.

I had to do a lot of cutting and welding to the body and the subframe and it was really challenging to weld the two brackets in place symmetrical.

But now when fully compressed I have nearly 90° to the shock.

On the top of the new brackets I added a strut brace for more stiffness.

I also added rose jointed tie bars and lower arms and a pedal box with a brake bias bar. I throw out the 20mm spacers. With all built together I was able to do a test at a race of the histo cup austria at the Salzburgring. I was excited how the suspension worked even with the really not perfect Spax shocks. They don’t offer the range of setting I wanted to and the spring rate is also not perfect but I found a big difference when driving over the curbs in a chicane compared to the rubber cones. You nearly don’t recognise the curbs with the coilovers any more so this should bring a huge improvement when cutting corners on a rally stage.

So next steps are repainting the car and let someone build new shocks for my requirement to be ready for the new rally season to try out the improvements. Any tips for Suspension companies with expierince in mini rallying?

For the future I am very interested in the widetrack things but for now I just want to drive and test the new things ;-)

Very interesting reading, nice to see the modifications you did. Good effort on the front end top mounts!

Nicely done. I would also look to remaking the lower brackets that mount onto the top arm. You can extend them towards the wheel by about an inch and still have good tyre clearance. This will do a few things. Give better access to the top ball joint nut. Improve the rate of the spring (angle change) and finally make the spring rate seen by the car higher (longer leverage arm). I really should redo my top arm brackets again.
