How is a 1994 SPI supposed to go into closed loop? In my previous post I noted that the temperature never gets above 86 degrees. The Temperature sensor is new, the Lambda sensor is a new Bosch, but only shows 435 mV. The Lambda sensor heater doesn't come on, the wiring is all OK, but the ground signal from pin 36 of the ECU doesn't ground, so the relay doesn't pull in. I gave it a separate ground to turn the heater on which worked, but still only 435 mV and open loop using Mems Diag. The PTC is knackered, I'm sure, but surely this should only affect initial warm up?

The Lambda sensor is a new Bosch, but it is one of the generic Bosch type with the special connectors to tie into your existing wiring. Heater still not turning on though, so I don't think its the sensor... Maybe the ECU?

Have a look here :http://www.theminifo...-problem/page-2 and check the connection of the lambda probe .
I know some ecus they switch to closed loop only when having reached 88 degrees but I know others ( mostly the 1.6 version ) which switch not having reached the 88 border.

Initially I thought the PTC only worked during warm up but when disconnected my gauge stayed just below normal and the car ran rich ( open loop I thought). At the time somebody suggested a restriction in the water heated manifold but I have since checked that and appears fine.

The upper one is the incoming from the thermostat,the lower one is outlet!

Thanks guys for the replies. Looks like I have the correct hose routing, but I will probably have to get a new PTC , and check my wiring!
