So, i'm new to the forum.

about 20 years ago I spent about 3 years modifying and sorting a mini.

I subsequently left home, moved away and left the mini in my parents garage.

Fast forward to now and I have just taken delivery of it at my new house and it sits in my garage. Its been untouched since I left it and has fared fairly well.

As it was. Its a bit hazy exactly what I did as its such a long time ago

body wise

Mk1 grill

sportspack arches

13" wheels of some sorts

color is a metalic blue from PSA

Inside I have some buckets and nothing else exciting

engine wise

1380 MED block with forged omega pistons

Crank has been drilled, skimmed and balanced ( MED)

Fast road Head (MED)

Fast road Cam ( cant remember the number )

Webber 45 carb (bulkhead cut)

I have just ordered a maniflow twin box center exit exhaust and  race manifold (1.75" bore) for it and some various other bits to get it started again.

I expect that I will be asking for some advice over the next few months. Mainly for some sensible engine/ running gear upgrades that should go along with the engine as I am way out of touch with the scene.

Once shes up and running and I can make sure that there is nothing engine wise serious in need of repair I can spend a bit of money on the body work. Expect I will change arches and wheels to 12"

Any way

Hello and I hope all is staying safe in these strange times

something like that :-)

So that's the maniflow exhaust and manifold on the car as well as new fuel line and a malpassi filter king fuel regulator

New Fletcher Rad installed and the lines flushed

New oil and filter

New brake discs and pads

New ITG filter for the webber

I have a suspension and geometry pack from Mini spares.

What next? Any pearls of wisdom from the forum as to what I should be checking/sorting/ upgrading

Im soon going to have to start thinking about wheels + tyres. unfortunately.

Want to go to 12" which is the best forum on this site to discuss this i.e. 12" x 5, 5.5 or 6?

Hi I run Ultralite 12 X 6 and have been really happy with them. Should fill your existing arches well, perhaps someone else on here can verify that.

Steering feel won't be quite as good as 5" wide although I didn't really struggle too much with torque steer. I only had a stock mg metro in mine at one point in time.

Be sure to have Timken wheel bearings fitted as cheaper ones tend to be of varying quality and could very well fail.

Although I plan to get rid of  the sportspack arches. Will see about the Timken bearings

Was thinking about 12x5.5 but im a sucker for the deeper dish wheels

I run regular width group 2 arches which the tyres stick out from however group 2 wide would fully cover. Yes deeper dish looks great!

the 13x 7 had issues with tramlining - this still the case with the 12 x 6

was thinking about rave arches or older W+P replicas
