Hello everybody,

I decided to start a topic about general questions I have and will have during the build of my project.

First question I have now is concerning the flitch panel and in particular its shape where the A-panel is clamped on at the A-pillar:

How does the corner fit on the door step? I have no idea as everything was rotten. I've done the other side, there is about a 3mm gap all around, but I'n either not sure if it's right like this, everything was rotten too.

This side looks like this at the moment (I have some metal to cut, but I prefer to ask before doing it)

This is a view from the wheel well, the hole on the top is the lowest door hinge hole.

Here I have no gap between the corner and the doorstep. There is too nuch metal et the moment, I will have to cut some out, but do not know how much, andmake place for folding the A-panel around that corner.

From the top, inside, where the hinges are mounted:

Does this shape seem OK for you?

Thanks,

Gilles

Thanks a lot for your pictures sonikk4!!

I had a further read in your thread, didn't think about it in first place, but there are loads of good pictures which can be helpful!

That helps me to go further with the repairs!

Next big question. I hope it will not open the Pandora Box ;)

I am planing to offer the new floor on the car.

As at the moment I have the best possible access to the heelboard, I am playing with the idea to solid mount the front, after reading the different posts about it I think this is a better solution for the car to be solid mounted (not to mention the handling ;) )

My issue is then, where to bring the reinforcing plates?

- to the engine side? Does it fit with the added thickness between heelboard and subframe?

- in the cabin, under the floor?

- in the cabin, over the floor?

If I put them in the cabin, is it better to remove the old ones to remove overlaps?

I intend to fold them to spread the load on the floor part too.

What about the dimensions of these reinforcements? I read somewhere here 160mm square and 2mm thickness, is that enough?

Thanks a lot for your feedback,

Gilles
