have you looked in the ACR section to see if anyone in/near your area has a unit they can lend / help with checking and resetting.
I have just got one but:-
a) up in Bucks
b) no idea how to drive it .!! [yet]

P.S. it'll be really good if/when Pscan gets this added, I think he'd sell a lot more if he did.

You have a new throttle body, It needs to be set up correctly, they are not setup when they leave the factory because every car breathes differently.

Normal situation is to check the basics. Throttle cable set, linkages operate smoothly no air leaks.

On ACR you ensure car is at operating temperature and perform service reset - which forces ECU to relearn ( disconnecting the battery doesn’t do this).

Then stepper set up where the ACR takes control of the engine and cycles through revving up and dropping down to idle.

on some versions of the software this has a graphic showing the level of opening of the IACV.

My experience in doing this was after the service reset on a club members MPi the revs shot up to over 1500 then MEMS took control and it dropped back.

As far as I know only Testbook/T4, Sykes Pickavant ACR and Crypton ACT diagnostics have this type of functionality and from memory Crypton ACT was only SPi not MPi. Of course main difference is SPi stepper opens the throttle butterfly and the “stepper” in MPi is the Inlet Air Control Valve which is a separate element which is bolted on.

Thanks FlyingScot, that makes sense. I have asked Pscan if they can add this functionality into their equipment and I will see if I can borrow an arc4 etc, local to me.

Here's a list of people that have a T4. Look through it, there might be one near you.

Hi Nick,
I have posted my acr4 to PScan so that he can investigate this very option, and add it to the PScan suite of functions.
Fingers crossed this will be possible.

Hi Jon,

I do not really have any tips, it was just a case of playing with the idle adjustment screw until it cured my issue. My stepper was originally set at about 26 steps, but no I have set it to 42 steps and it is faultless. I have the Burlen 52mm throttle body that was supposedly set up out of the factory, but like already stated earlier in this thread, each car and set up is unique.

The benefit is that I had the confidence to do this, knowing that I could return it to the original stepper position if all went wrong.

The Pscan kit is now superb.

Please let me know how you get on.

Many thanks

Nick

Just following some of the posts on the PScan site, I see screen shots indicating oil temperature. While the MEM2J has the capability for an oil temp sensor, on an MPi Mini, the sensor feeds the gauge directly.

There are a number of features of the MEMS2J not used in an MPi mini, but probably used in other applications.

As long as it gets to the point where it allows adjustment, it should not be an issue.

I would be curious what your MAP reading is now.

Terry

The MEMS2J was used in the early MGFs.

My map reading is between 46 and 48 on idle.

Is this ok ?

I can't answer that for sure.

The data embedded in the ACR says:

Strategy manifold pressure in kPA, expect 100 kPA Key on and 30 kPA at fast idle

When I had the 52 mm TB installed, I also got higher readings.

With the 48 mm TB now installed, I still get higher readings, but I also have an LCB exhaust, a modified inlet and a modified head.
