I think the option of re-setting within PScan is on the list of 'wants' from users.
And is hopefully work in progress.
No doubt an email to him will confirm.

try this;-

So I have received the Pscan diagnostic and had a play with it. It is a great piece of kit and very easy to use except I am struggling to log data but this is due to my PC and not the Pscan equipment.

Unfortunately there are no faults logged and all seems to be running within the normal operating values, but the revs still hang for a couple of seconds when driven lightly.

I am still not happy that I have not got to the bottom of this but will keep working on it.

Any ideas/suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks

Nick

I think by disconnecting the IAC you have identified the source of the hangup but the question is , is it mechanical or electrical. You replacing the valve rules out mechanical unless its being distorted when mounted to the new throttle body. Electrically the signal for the IAC to open would come when the throttle closes so I would think a faulty TPS. You can measure the resistance between the pins of the TPS with an ohm meter.

I would think the PScan would allow you to view either voltage or throttle position % directly.

You NEED to setup the number of steps the IACV valve sets itself to with either the PSCAN or a T4 system.

Pscan does measure the TPS but is unable to reset the steps yet. I still cannot understand that if you rev it hard it immediately drops the revs to 950rpm, but if you take easy the revs hang at about 1400 for a second or two.

would resetting the steps resolve this ??

Had the same high revving problem with mine, coupled with the fan always on. I used this:

And it fixed both. Also check wiring loom behind air filter as engine movement can wear though causing a short.

I had this, then eventually a 4k idle (not ideal when on a third date with single box centre exit haha
At times when clutch pressed it would stall too.

Turned out to be the tps stop needed readjusting, used the acr4 to tell me when it was in the correct position.
Swapping the tb also helped as mine was warped.

Attached File  Mini Cooper First Log.txt   1.44MB   6 downloads

The loom to the water temp sensor is a new and the fan works in the correct manner.

I have checked the wiring behind the air filter and no issues found with the wiring. I have checked this on quite a occasions and found nothing untoward.

I have attached an excel file, showing the data logging from my Pscan diagnostics. The car was started from cold and left running until warm. There are no faults logged and all seems to be in order unless someone can tell me otherwise.

Please could you have a look and let me know if there is anything incorrect with the data shown.

Thanks for your help and suggestions so far.

The Pscan equipment that I have does not allow it.

when you changed the cable, did you turn the idle up? i had lots of problems once on a bmw where the tps didnt go back to the idle position and it was confusing itself and would do like you are saying hang the revs for a bit.

HTH.

This is the thing with these cars. DO NOT TOUCHE the throttle screw if the car is not connected to a T4 or other machine that can set it.
It is a screw that adjusts the throttle lever yes, but it is not a tick over speed adjustment.

I did not touch the throttle screw and if it was set incorrectly, then the revs would hang every time I would have thought.

The revs only hang if you drive the car normally, but if you drive it hard the revs drop perfectly. This is the issue that I cannot understand.
