There's no way I could give that a like, but it deserved recognition.

In the late 1960's there was a very well-known Mini race driver and preparation person, who will remain nameles.
A member of one of the motor clubs of which I was a member wanted a Mini Cooper 'S' in which to compete in autocross, sprints and hill climbs and he spoke with our race-driver friend, who quickly 'found' him a car for not a lot of money. It was not road-registered, but was definitely a real 'S'.
However, our race-driving friend was arrested and the Old Bill started tracing the Minis which he had 'dishonestly handled' (nicked!).
The guy who had bought the 'S' for autocross used to run a sand & gravel business and he was concerned that the Old Bill might 'come looking', so he dug a very big hole at his gravel pits and buried a complete Cooper 'S'.
I often wonder if it was ever found when the site was developed for houses about 35 years later in the late 1990's.

Could possibly be better preserved than if it had been left out in the rain?
