Best Answer knowell , 14 April 2020 - 09:31 PM

I think I found the problem. Is this bottom plate on wrong?

Installed a genuine KAD Quickshift and unable to get into 3rd gear. 4th and reverse also seem a bit difficult to shift into but do shift into gear. I don’t know how the mechanism works inside in order to possibly modify it to shift properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Note- I removed the entire gearlever box and mounted the base of the KAD ensuring that bolts are in the proper position. Also the linkage is pointing with the cup facing downward u shape.

You will be just trying to move the lever too far across the gate.

takes time to get it right..

also check for witness marks on the bottom plate That it is not catching. Or remove potion plate and check all gears can be selected.

I have the very same quickshifter fitted.

I too had trouble but in my case the problem was the yoke being inverted.

Should be this way round...

otherwise there's not much adjustment needed.

The body of the shifter should be firmly seated onto the housing.

I'd be surprised if the KAD item fouled on anything though - it should be a simple direct replacement.

Hi yes, that is the cup I was referring to and is positioned the way you mention cup downward like a U. Also I ensured to mount the base with the two bolts going in the pins used to be. Thank you for the input

If you have the rubber bellows fitted at the coupling, that can stop it.

If you’re referring to this rubber gaiter I decided to take it off thinking the same but It didn’t fix the issue . If this isn’t the rubber bellow you’re referring to. Could you please reference a picture thanks!

Yep, that's a KAD quickshift.

You'll never get it into gear though - because the gear stick is sitting outside the car!! (  sorry)

It looks like you're fitting it correctly.

If the original gear stick fits and the gearbox works correctly in all gears then then I'm not sure what might be causing the problem for you with the quick shift.

The throw of the KAD stick is quite different and does take getting used to but I prefer it.

Thanks nick, I’ll remove it and flip it around. Hopefully that’s the issue

The bottom plate also houses the reverse lock-out. If you turn it around you might find you have to lift for 1st and can go into Reverse instead of 4th by accident. Be sure to check all that as well.
