"Nothing says 1960s more than a strip speedo, something all the rage at the start of that decade.
Chris Cowin takes a look at some cars associated with BMC and British Leyland which featured a strip speedo, an item that clung on in some corners of the product range for far longer than you might think."

As a kid I was fascinated by the strip speedo in my dad's 1970 series 1 P6 Rover 2000TC.

I once had a 1967 Rover 2000 which had a strip speedo.

Actually it was one I took in part-ex for a Mini Cooper and I was going to sell it on, but my wife loved it so we had it for around 12 months. Very comfortable and well-built car.

The Volvo Amazon had a lovely strip speedo which used something like a ribbon so the faster you went, the more the speedo turned red.
