any thoughts on adding an intercooler,  maybe you could find one from a Montego/Maestro turbo

Have considered it many times. But I’ve decided for now not to fit one. Performance wise I’m happy with pretty standard original setup of the metro turbo engine

will be using a SPI tank with built in pump. Still original Rover. Nice and tidy and believe its up to the job. Exhaust is a challenge and will most likely be Maniflow. Already got the tank and the down pipe.

X pin diff

Bit slow getting going with the diff and gearbox due to large hangover. Diff done today. Some confusion regarding torque setting for final drive gear but thanks to some advice happy to use 60lbf.

No special tools  were used for striping or assembling. only whats in my garage. To install the new springs and ball bearings into the syncro hub i used a cable tie. Worked really well.

Hif44, Inlet and Plenum chamber Continued

Finally got nearly all parts done and assembled inlet, carb and plenum. Still waiting on new dash pot spring and needle for the carb. But its all together at last

I still need the Non return valve for the inlet manifold if anyone knows where i can get one?

Im finding with most of the work so far is, a lot of cleaning, some basic repairs and service kits, then all the parts look new. Hope the engine is complete in the next 2 weeks then i can start with the panel replacement.

I just hope all these bits work when I finally get to test it

Wow, an amazing collection of parts, attention to detail is spot on. Do you have any pics of the car? Couldn't see any.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks. The car is in the garage behind all the boxes. My profile pic is an old picture from when i first got it. I will add some pictures of the car when i start the body work. But i have to be honest there is not much left of it. Front end removed - boot floor removed - sections of the floor removed. I started it years ago - stripped and chopped off front - then due to many reasons left it for years - then cut some more rust off and now finally have all new panels to complete. Just a case of doing it.

So my plan to complete the engine this week has been ####ed right up.. Brought the block down from safe storage in the wardrobe :)

Started to remove some parts to prep for painting to find i was not happy with so many things. Main bearings not replaced - cam bearings not replaced - bent pushrods - cheap quality Rolon chain - cheap or old cam followers - the list goes on.. This was all supposed to have been done. Now it looks like i will do the work myself. I have contacted the guy that did the work and he apologises and can not explain what has happened. He promises to ship the parts required for the completion this week. Until parts arrive i can only paint a few more bits and wait...
