Looks like a great project and I like your plan to only use original Austin / Rover parts. I presume there is plenty of room under the bonnet for all the extra turbo kit?

Did you get some of the parts like the distributor vacuum unit passivated or is it paint? Looks great either way.

Engine and Cylinder head

This Part I have not done myself. Andrew Collinson [Retro Minis] took care of most of this work. I will be doing some more with this next week. Hopefully join engine and box together, check compression ration, paint block, replace core plugs and more probably -

Its had all the usual work, but keeping it almost standard. First pictures are the engine when i first got it - then how it currently looks

I have to use the bulk head box to allow room for the turbo but as it was used on ERA turbo i am happy with the change. But i should have plenty of room .. I hope

I kept searching for info on the correct vacuum unit. Once it was identified I managed to find NOS on ebay. Cleaned the body of the distributor with thinners to remove most debris then clutch and break cleaner. New rotor arm and new cap fitted. I have not replaced the module yet but not certain i will use this one. always nice to have the option.

The entire car should be original Austin / Rover parts when complete. Not going to give away the final look of the car yet but have the interior, wheels, arches, dash, all original parts. All from different years of cars but all original. Plan is to complete the engine build in the next couple of weeks. Wrap it up - place in my garage storage for safe keeping. Along with all other refurbed parts. Then move on to the shell.

I would swap to a Gt17 turbo and fusion fabs manifold to avoid cutting the bulkhead.

I know there are many options to avoid the bulkhead mod. But they did it to ERA turbo and my plan is to use only original parts where possible.

59DM4 Distributor

This is a NOS distributor that i managed to find. Took a long time to find the correct module to use with this. From what i have researched the coil should also be OK. Standard original plugs and new leads. I did replace the distributor cap as the original had a small crack.

Love the attention to detail and the refurbishment of old parts.

I have used a similar idea on my car to only use original parts if possible or when I have planned an upgrade to only use parts from the BL/ Austin/ Morris /Rover corporate parts bin. Considering the range of cars they produced over the years there's plenty to go at.

Have you had to refurbish any plastic parts and what did you use?

Currently trying to clean up bits of the fresh air system. The air scoop that resides in the engine compartment behind the grill and the air pipe under the drivers side wing.

Trying to remove underseal from said parts. WD40 used to remove the underseal and leave a nice shiny coated surface. I think its been 'improved'* and now just leaves the plastic dull.

Any suggestions?

The filter housing was in poor condition and im still not happy with it really, clock set was not the best. I tried the autosol in a small area and removed scratches but left dull finish. Mainly cleaned with hot soapy water. If i find a good solution i will post it.
