What saloon models had the first rectangular rear lights but with external door hinges. I always thought the external door hinges were only with oval rear lights and commercial vehicles

Mk2 minis had external hinges and smaller rectangular rear lights without reverse lights. 1967-69 ish.

As said Mk2 Austin & Morris Minis:-

Mk3 Minis also used the same rear lights as the Mk2.

The Mk4 got the larger rear lights with built in reversing lights as were first fitted to Italian Innocenti Minis some years earlier.

Our locally assembled Clubmans had "Mk2" taillights, narrow rear windows and external hinges

Is the narrow rear window in the UK only on the MK1? or is it on the MK2 as well?

I have one so should know...

Are the mk2 and mk3 rear lights actually smaller than later ones as suggested by some above, I assumed they’d be the same size just designed to include reverse lights.... I’m sure the aperture is the same size.

The apertures the same size bit I'm certain the mk4 lamp is larger in all directions.
