A very smart looking Mini

Quick Update on the mini. Finally bit the bullet and bought a brand new set of twin hs4s to go temporarily on my 1275 but will then end up on the 1293. Will be installing them tomorrow along some other goodies.

Today I installed the twin hs4, got it to fire up and idle at 900 rpm but still need to set up the fuel mixture, but hey at least it runs ?.

I also installed a braided oil pressure line and relocated the oil cooler behind the grille for a cleaner looking engine bay ( switched from a 13 row to 10 row, which will still do the job just fine ).

The next thing on the list is to sort out the wiring as its a complete rats nest.

Finally got the next big piece of the puzzle for the 1293. Med rally spec head with 36/30 valves.

Forged omega pistons 6cc dish ( +0.020 )
forged specialist components rods with arp bolts
balanced, polished & heat treated crank
ACL bearings throughout

Finally bought all the parts for the 1293 engine build ! Next up are the parts for the gearbox build and engineering work.

Finally got most of the parts for the gearbox build. 

• Magnetic oil trap
• uprated sump plug
• baulk rings
• central oil pickup
• Quaife ATB
• SC Drop gears ( with roller bearing )
• SC crown wheel and pinion 3.7
• Billet pot joint covers
• HD Clutch kit
• Miscellaneous gearbox bits

 

The actual SC CR gear set will be arriving in the next couple of days. Also got a full rebuild kit with bearings and gaskets.

Cheers, will be building the gearbox in the next couple of days. Just waiting on some parts for the the engine than off to the machine shop for boring, line boring etc. Hopefully its gonna perform quite well ( or at least i hope it does…..)

Finally had some time to build the gearbox ( also my first gearbox build ). Everything went together smoothly and spins beautifully.

Spec :

SC CR Gear set
SC Drop gears ( roller bearing idler gear )
SC Crown wheel and pinion - 3.75
ARP Bolts
Quaife ATB
Billet output shaft covers
Central oil pickup
magnetic plug in oil pickup
All new bearings, laygear shaft , gaskets etc

Just received my order from KAD with a couple more goodies for the engine build.

 

• Super finished cam followers
• threaded oil gallery bungs 
• bolt kits for clutch housing ( both for clutch cover and housing ) and block to gearbox.
• adjustable  lower engine steadies
• KAD race oil pump 
• Steel main caps with 4 bolt centre cap.

Finally got everything ready to start the engine build. Gave a block a really good clean up with some acidic cleaner and took it to the machine shop to have it, bored to +0.020 over, line bored for the KAD steel main caps, installing new cam bearings, installing new threaded oil bungs and drilled for 11 head studs. Having done all that i will dry build the engine to see exactly how much to remove off the deck of the block to achieve my 11:0:1 CR. Really looking forward to this !!!
