Hello Here's the history

- ignitor on distributor burned out - faulty ignition (I bought this new a year or so ago?)- position II - left on - there was electrical smell and a hole blown right threw the ignitor - 45d pertronix
- Replaced with old ignition - original
- Replaced with new ignitor would not start but turns over
- Traced power and power does go to solenoid but, nothing out the other end to the coil
- Ran a series of other tests;
- Checked coil - proper olms display when tested
- Checked positive on coil with original ignition in on position - engine turns over - no power to coil
- Battery new and fully charged
- Plugs gaped correctly
- Spark plug Wires brand new
- Wires running from solenoid to coil - no break, wearing or any ground issues

- Heres the interesting part;

- Ran power to coil direct from a 12 volt source, car turns over no problem - confirmed it's the solenoid - power going in but nothing coming out - at least for the ignition as all else works;
- Tested with probe light, solenoid main connection lights up probe light
- Tested with ignition on and connection does not light up probe although did not have a second person to actually turn to max position III which as mentioned above turns it over engine so power is coming from ignition
- Pulled the positive wire connected to coil, and connected to probe light, again turned on ignition and again no proble light going on or power running to the same

- Finally;

- I have two other solenoids, one with three the other with four connectors put in both and again no power to the coil, but the engine turns over but will not start

Okay, time to go to the mini gods as I am stuck

The solenoid should not provide power to the coil unless you have a ballast ignition system (and then only while cranking).

Power comes from the fusebox.

Thx Grame as being an electronic dizzy this is a non - ballasted system - let me take another look at the fuse box as to which wire goes to the solenoid any pics on which one?

The coil is fed from a spliced wire just to the left of the white wires (spliced under the loom tape)

Thx Again Cal so, did not work as above so daisy chained the whole thing up and did the equivalency with tube/blade fuses - 35 = 15, and she fired up and all lighting systems are go.

Believe or not took it all apart and went back to tubes as was an experiment on buddies car to see if we could duplicate WBW - we did with much success

Thx guys and solenoid was fine as simply the fuse or power was shorted

Clean the original fusebox up or buy new, available from Minispares.com. refit that so the car is back to standard,

Ok so again she won't start and I checked all above and confirmed 180 degrees to dizzy - rotor pointing to #1 but no turning over.

Tested with a buddy and we are stumped although, which concerns me, when I try start and she is just turning over I hear like a puff of air like a piston or something pushing air out of a vent when I stop but not all the time as keep turning over.

Also, we did notice when we had it too advanced it gave the usual clunk noise, so spark is going or at least I think so. Dialed dizzy back and got as explained above.

Again checked and no spark to the wires but second coil in so not sure where the issue is? Replaced the HT lead and plugs, nothing so still makes sense no spark.

Resistance on coil/voltage etc are in manufacturer band.

Fuel is okay as I can see the flow through the transparent filter, have not checked pressure yet though but don't see that as the issue as have had wet plugs. Check the flow by pulling from carb and noticed she pumps but not a regular stream and ever so slowly fills cup - wondering if that might be part of the issue?

Stumped
