Hi all,

My Mini Mayfair 1275 1994 failed her MOT today and a number of the defects were electrical including headlights, horn and fog light. I've changed all of the fuses in the 4 fuse fusebox and checked/replaced with new bulbs and am still having issues.

Horn not working

Position Lamp not working - nearside rear

Rear fog lamp not working

Registration plate lamp not working

On full beam I have no front headlights working at all

On main beam I have both headlights working - top bulb only

On dipped beam I have just the nearside lower bulb working

I am wondering if there are any other fuses I should be looking to change and where they might be located. I have very little knowledge of fixing car electrics but am keen to learn - just feeling quite baffled at the moment, so any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

Indicators, radio, heater, wipers, rear windscreen heater all work normally.

Many thanks in advance!

Don’t understand this bit - Full beam and main beam are the same thing ie headlights on (switch in second position) and stalk pushed forwards (so the blue indicator light in the dash is lit up).

Do you mean full beam, dipped beam and sidelights?

Dipped beam is headlights on (switch in second position) and stalk in rear position (not pulled right back for ‘flash”)

Sidelights is switch in first position.

Check behind the speedo binnacle for 4 inline fuses which are on blue/red and blue/white wires for the lights.

I've had two of these melt and cause issues.

Don't know if they are the same on a 94 mini but on most minis I had (up to 92 MY) there are connectors under the slam panel that are often culprits for duff headlights/sidelights

Hard to explain fixes in writing - pictures help (video would be great) Pity I hardly ever get to the computer until its dark and too late to take pictures to explain.

Joining a club is handy as there is likely to be someone to help; obviously a bit futile at the moment though
