Hi,

We have a 1977 BLMC fully restored Mini.

It has a 1300 cooper motor with twin SU carbs. A while ago the car started to stutter going down the road. This happens after the car is warm and happens during constant speed and during acceleration. A couple of times the car almost dies.

Its a weird fault as it can run perfect for a a couple of miles then it can start to stutter, the only partial fix it to put the clutch in and rev the engine. This is only a temp fix. Also going around different corners alters the fault.

To date we have changed the coil, spark plugs, and the leads and distributor cap. None of this has fixed the problem.

Is this a possible SU Carb issue, fuel issue or something else.

We would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Dave

Hi, sounds like fuel and i would look at the fuel tank and fuel lines?? Go around a corner and then it starts to stutter so possible debris in the tank moving around.

Have you got a inline fuel filter fitted??

Mine was doing that 18 months ago, If it has the original tank it might have the similar filter on the feed pipe in the tank that my 75 gt had. it's a white plastic with a really fine mesh impossible to get off or out and clean. Tried everything to no avail, new tank fitted.
