How thick is your spacer? How much offset is on your new rims?

Assume you're referring to the built in spacer in the rear brake drum? It really depends upon the offset of the wheels you intend to fit, i.e. ET?
Why specifically 5.5"?

5.5 inch will be fine with spacer drums,

I have a 1993 car with 6x12 revolution offset wheels and they're perfect with the standard arches.
