Hi, I'm running a 998 in my pup on 10" rims, I've a choice of 2 gearboxes, one is 3.65:1 ratio and the other is 3.44:1 ratio, which will give the best top speed?
Thanks

3.44 will give a higher speed in each gear, but slower acceleration.

(That is, assuming everything else is the same)

You can also just swap the diff and pinion gear rather than the whole gearbox

Bit of a longer story, original engine and gearbox according to guess works is coming up as the 3.65:1 ratio and an a+metro engine, the 3.44:1 gearbox is attached to an a engine which is alot cleaner etc than the present engine fitted. Whilst I have 5 days off I'm thinking of biting the bullet and changing it.
Just need to work out the best way of going about it, will need to be able to move the mini around as I wont be able to commit a full day at it, so will need to be able to push it in and out of my garage.

Haha I wish I could lend a whole day to it, unfortunately my partner and son wont like that lol, plus I'm going to have to do it on a gravel driveway so it will be challenging with the engine crane. All good fun lol
