Mot Tomorrow Morning - High Beam / High Beam Dash Light Not Working

Best Answer ads7 , 22 May 2020 - 07:59 AM

Solved! Always check the simple things first - blue/white wire going into column switch had pulled off the connector. Doh!

Right, off to pass the mot Go to the full post

Hi all, sorry to bring this up I've got mot first thing tomorrow in time for wife's birthday present (mini back on road, with luck..)

All lights work with exception of main beam. Main beam blue indicator light on dash also does not light up.

Recently had a new main light switch fitted. Tried bridging terminals to switch which made no difference.

Possibly a fault with stalk switch? Been at this for three hours now to no avail.

What year of car? Check for power to the front of the car and then at the stalk.

It's an 86 Thanks for the replies I've tried cleaning the contacts will have another go. With the dash high beam light not working it does point to the stalk switch

I'd say so, or theres no power getting to the stalk. I dont think the main beam is fused so that makes life easier

Lights ok at mot but failed on rear brake pressure so new slave cylinders on order.

Sadly won't be ready now in time for Jen's 40th this Sunday but looking good sat on the drive ready for return to road middle of next week.

Don't like to admit defeat but never mind. Thanks again for help and advice 👍

Well you tried!

Might be worth checking the short flexible hoses at the rear radius arms as they can collapse internally with age and many people don't think to replace them.
