What is the correct dipstick and tube to use for a pre A+ 1275 12G1279 block? I’ve tried quite a few combinations and can’t get one to fit

That's the correct one. Doesn't the dipstick fit? Have you got the tapered plug type dipstick?

The dipsticks are all the same other than the auto and the very early 850.

 

you must have picked up a non Mini one.

They fitted the Plastic ones from earlier on, prior to that, they were Steel, but either of these fit.

 

I gotta say, I haven't found the new Plastic ones too good.

Overall length doesn’t matter that much, it’s the length to the markings that’s important

It’s too long! When in the tube it doesn’t go all the way to the collar, it jams.
