This is so frustrating to read. I think I’d just get my money back and go elsewhere...

I’ve recently bought a short engine form MCCS engineering in notts. These guys are looking to expand their work to the public, and the engine I have bought looks superb! They have supplied trade for some time, but covid has had them decide to supply direct as so many of their trade customers closed for a time/ permanently.

I would think they’d relish the chance to help you sort your engine to get more good press, particularly on here! https://www.mccsengineering.com/

Lets say im a little angry over it. But the rebore was done, head done and looks like mainly a handful of bits to complete. I will wait for the parts but he has agreed to post. But i need to look closely at the head now. It will give me a good chance to learn what i dont know

Thanks for the company name as i may need some work.

This is really really bad. From what ive read, everything you wanted done and payed for ain't been done at all, its just been bodged together with secondhand or cheap parts.

You've got 2 choices in my mind...Give them a chance to put everything right   or you need to take this further big time.

You cant just walk away from this.

Dicky.

I will wait and see if the parts arrive. If no parts arrive i will take further action. Its just a shame. the guy knows his mini engines. But just used cheap bits in place of agreed. Or old bits.

I was made aware of this the other day. Its a really confusing situation. Andrew seemed a decent, knowledgeable guy and advised on best options for what i was after. As i say i have managed to contact him on the phone and he has apologised, but could not offer reasons why the engine was not as specified or agreed. He has offered to do the work but I would now prefer parts and do it myself. I can only assume he has been hit by financial difficulty and thought I would never inspect the engine, wanted my final payment. If the parts get posted I will complete work and forget it. If there is no contact and no parts I must assume I have been deceived again. I will then take some further action. Its a shame.

I bought a part of Andrew about 18 months ago .. and had no problems, but as you say anything could have happened in the time since. His website seems to be still up and working so he's obviously paying the bills for his ISP ..

With ebay you have more chance of being fleeced ..

We've had some fun & games recently with a seller who kept appearing suddenly selling over 200 vehicles .. all at weird prices and when you checked, publicising a different email and tel no as an image (which is again ebay rules) .. but the reason we knew he was dodgy was the images of two or three Austins we knew WEREN'T for sale .. on one we contacted the "seller" and she advised us her account had been hacked .. but as soon as we got ebay to take them down, they reappeared. I think we were well into double-figures by the time he gave up! (but we are still on the look-out!)

As i say im confused. Im constantly checking ebay for parts i still need as I intend as original build as possible. But some of the things on there are shocking. Cars as you say that seem to appear at stupid cheap money and are clearly a con in some fashion or log books for sale. I think i will mark this thread as solved now and just continue with the project thread for the car. Thats as soon as mini spares delivery arrives and all other parts needed. still difficult to find some bits.

Thanks for all feed back on this issue.
